Dr. Alyse Folino Ley graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. Following medical school, she completed a general psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Michigan State University. Dr. Ley is board-certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP). Dr. Ley is a fellow at the American College of Neuropsychiatrists (ACN).

Dr. Folino Ley is the Director of Prevent 2 Protect: Adolescent Targeted Violence Prevention Project. Dr. Folino Ley is also involved in medical and residency education as the Associate Chair of Education of Education and Research in MSU’s Department of Psychiatry. Prior to becoming director of Prevent 2 Protect, she served as the director of the four-year general psychiatry residency program at Michigan State University, as well as the two-year child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship. Dr. Folino Ley has taught medical students at the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and the MSU College of Human Medicine since her time in residency. She is a co-coordinator for the MSUCOM Psychopathology course, where she teaches over 320 second-year medical students each fall. She was awarded the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) 2016 Outstanding Achievement in Osteopathic Medical Education Award for co-founding the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Student Mental Health Committee (MSMH).  Dr. Folino Ley received the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) 2019 Research Mentor Award for her work with child and adolescent psychiatry residents and most recently was given the Fall 2021 and 2022 Golden Apple Teaching Award-Honorable Mention by the MSUCOM Class of 2024 and 2025.

Dr. Folino Ley has expertise in working with adults, children, and adolescents with trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, developmental disorders, ADHD, learning disorders, and psychotic disorders. She has also provided subject matter expertise to the Averted School Violence Database project, the National Policing Institute’s Center Targeted Violence Prevention initiatives, and John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Dr. Ley participated in after-action reviews of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas (NV), the Marjory Stoneman High School in Parkland (FL) shooting, and the Paw Paw High School averted shooting in Michigan.

In September 2022, Dr. Folino Ley was appointed by Governor Whitmer to serve on the Michigan School Safety and Mental Health Commission for a 4-year term.  She also serves on the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Commission to Address Gun Violence, the Resilience and Recovery subcommittee. She is a member of the Michigan Board of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Danielle Murphy is a dynamic professional with a diverse background in healthcare, higher education, and emergency communications.

After working as a 911 dispatcher for the City of Lansing and Ingham County, Danielle started her career in education, working with graduate students in the College of Engineering at MSU. It was in this role that she discovered a passion for helping adult learners be successful. While pursuing a Master of Arts in Higher Adult Lifelong Education from Michigan State University College of Education, Danielle moved into a role in the medical schools, working with resident physicians. Within this role, Danielle was able to leverage her ability to problem-solve and navigate working with community partners throughout the State of Michigan and emerged as a leader and mentor for her colleagues.

During the pandemic, Danielle decided to return to school and is currently in her third year in the Higher Adult Lifelong Education PhD program in the College of Education at Michigan State University. Her research and career interests include education policy implementation, program evaluation, research-to-practice community-based programs, adult learning, rural education, and equitable access to education.

Today, Danielle leverages her multifaceted expertise in her commitment to excellence, problem-solving, and dedication to enhancing educational efficiency. She offers a unique blend of skills and experience that make her an asset in any endeavor.

Amanda is an experienced Lead Case Manager. She holds a master’s in social work from Michigan State University and a bachelor’s in Health Services Administration from Baker College. Amanda brings a wealth of experience in holistic therapeutic interventions, policy development, and strategic planning. Amanda has provided compassionate and client-centered care, specializing in evidence-based treatment modalities to support clients’ emotional and relational well-being.

She has a strong understanding of individual, couple, and family therapy, crisis intervention, and case management. During her time as a Human Resources Coordinator at Michigan State University’s College of Education, she focused on providing a strong foundation for faculty and staff. Additionally, her background includes a leadership role in Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS), as well as medical and administrative support in healthcare settings.  Amanda’s dedication to fostering positive participant outcomes and her commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging make her a valuable asset to the Prevent 2 Protect program. Her comprehensive approach and collaborative spirit ensure the delivery of effective and empathetic care to the communities she serves.

Lieza Klemm comes from Michigan State University’s College of Communication Arts and Sciences with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a concentration in broadcasting.  

Lieza has a background in storytelling and media, bringing a diverse skill set and proven track record in compelling content creation, social media strategy, and the dissemination of accurate information. Her expertise comes from monitoring social media analytics and creating engaging content for various podcasts. 

In addition to working on multiple podcasts, Lieza reported for WKAR Public Radio, the National Public Radio affiliate housed at Michigan State University. At WKAR, Lieza covered a variety of topics, including infrastructure, education, health, and human-interest stories. This role deepened her love for non-profit programming and public media and allowed her to develop a nuanced understanding of the needs of the Greater Lansing community. Lieza is dedicated to leveraging her expertise to drive effective communication and support project success. Her commitment to accurate, impactful storytelling and her strong connection to the community make her an invaluable asset to the Prevent 2 Protect team.
