Prevent 2 Protect is excited to offer a free session of the basic Behavioral Threat Assessment Training (BTAM). The Basic Training is a one-day workshop that covers topics such as understanding school violence and implications for prevention, steps for developing and operating an effective school threat assessment program, and developing and implementing case management plans. Critical factors discussed will include understanding major facts about school violence and how prevention is possible, the principals of behavioral threat assessment and why schools should use it, and the eight steps to build a threat assessment program. Attendees will practice using the threat assessment procedures through multiple tabletop exercises. Mi-BTAM training is based upon research and best practices developed by the United States Secret Service (also known as the National Threat Assessment Center, or NTAC, model of school threat assessment).

This course will be taught by Prevent 2 Protect’s Ellery Sosebee and Traci Austin.
