With over 25 years of experience in child welfare, victim advocacy, and public service, Michelle Burns brings an abundance of knowledge to her role as a Lincoln Park Regional Mentor.
Most recently, Michelle served as a Multi-Disciplinary Team Coordinator, Forensic Interviewer, and Victim Advocate at the Washtenaw Child Advocacy Center, where she partnered closely with law enforcement, CPS, prosecutors, and mental health professionals to provide coordinated, trauma-focused services to child victims and their families. She is a Certified Forensic Interviewer and has been recognized for excellence in collaboration and her dedication to children.
Prior to joining Prevent 2 Protect, Michelle held leadership roles with local and state agencies, including the Indiana Department of Child Services, overseeing child welfare operations across multiple counties and leading large, diverse teams. Her experience covers investigation, case management, policy development, systems improvement, and mentorship – all equipping her with a deep understanding of how strong relationships and consistent support can change lives.
As a Lincoln Park Mentor, Michelle is committed to building trust within the community, supporting youth and families, and advancing Prevent 2 Protect’s mission of creating safer, stronger futures.
