ASV Database

Research is the foundation upon which innovation and impactful policies, practices, and programs are built, implemented, and evaluated. Prevent 2 Protect’s Research-to-Practice Hub leverages research on incidents of averted and completed targeted school attacks, prevention strategies, and other related themes. In 2016, the U.S. Department of Justice funded the development of the national Averted School Violence Database (ASV).

The ASV database includes more than 300 averted and completed targeted school attacks. ASV data and reports have been used by school officials, behavioral threat assessment professionals, law enforcement, and other violence prevention practitioners to inform policy, practice, and education.
